2011 Form 1098T Available Electronically
Rutgers University has partnered with ScholarChip to provide a fast and easy way to view, download, and print your tax documents electronically. Students will receive an email from support@getmydocument.com notifying them that their 1098T Tax Form for Educational Tax Credits is available over the web. Click here to view a sample email. Please follow the instructions in the email to view your 1098T and consent to receive your tax documents electronically.

If your scholarships and grant aid is greater than your qualified tuition and fee charges, you are not eligible to claim a tax deduction and will not receive a 1098T form.

Confirmation of Attendance
Students are expected to confirm their attendance every semester even if their charges are fully covered by their financial aid. Students are expected to pay their semester charges or make payment arrangements before the first day of class. For students registering during the first two weeks of the semester, payment is due at the time of registration.

Important Information about Student Health Insurance Program
New Jersey state law requires comprehensive health insurance coverage for all college students who are registered full-time and enrolled in a degree-seeking program.

Effective this fall semester, students will be given a choice of using an existing health insurance plan, or enrolling in a University-sponsored student health insurance plan.

Students who have existing insurance will be required to complete an on-line waiver showing proof of insurance each academic year. Students who are new to the University for the Spring semester (or were part-time in the Fall and will be full-time in the Spring) must show proof of health insurance by January 30, 2012.

If students do not provide their policy information through www.firststudent.com, they will be automatically charged an annual premium of $750 ($375 per semester) for the University sponsored health plan. Students must visit www.firststudent.com to enroll and receive their health insurance cards. Students have until January 30th to waive by providing health insurance coverage information to UHC at www.firststudent.com.

Click here for instructions detailing how to enroll or waive online.

Click here for answers to Frequently Asked Questions about the Rutgers Student Insurance Program.

Students were notified of the Health Insurance pre-enrollment Waiver period though an email sent by our department on July 12, 2011; Click here to review this correspondence.

Please click here for a letter from Gregory S. Blimling, Vice President of Student Affairs, detailing these new changes.

RU Book Advance for New Brunswick & Newark Financial Aid Students
If you are attending the Rutgers New Brunswick/Piscataway or Newark Campus, and will be receiving a refund from your financial aid for more than $500, Rutgers will allow you to use $500 of your financial aid refund to purchase your books from the University's New Brunswick/Piscataway and Newark bookstores during the beginning of each semester.

Your RU Book Advance account of $500 will be automatically set up for you unless your financial aid refund is less than $500, or you elect to decline establishing the account.

(Note: The amount received from Parent PLUS loans are not included in the refund calculation.) For more information and instructions, click here.

Exit Interviews for Federal Loan Recipients
If you are a recipient of a Federal Student Loan, and are graduating this fall (or will be enrolled for less than six credits for the Spring 2012 semester) you are required to complete an on-line Exit Interview by December 13, 2011. You are required to complete a separate exit interview for each for the Federal Loans you received. If you do not complete your Exit Interview(s) by the due date of December 13 a hold could be placed on your records.

Students transitioning from an undergraduate to a graduate program are also required to complete an exit interview.

For more information, or to complete the Exit Interview(s) for Direct Loans (subsidized or unsubsidized) please visit http://studentabc.rutgers.edu/exits.

Use Electronic Direct Deposit for Faster Student Refunds
Students are able to receive their financial aid refunds more quickly via electronic deposit to a personal checking or savings account.

In addition to reducing the time it takes to receive a refund, our electronic refund system eliminates the possibility of a refund being lost in the mail or stolen, and provides email notification alerting the student that a refund has been processed. Click here for more information about how RU ScholarRefund works. To enroll, log onto your account online with your NetID and password.

Net Price Calculator Available For First-Year Students To Estimate Costs
The Net Price Calculator estimates college costs for first-time, first-year undergraduate students (freshmen) who are considering attending Rutgers. Returning students and prospective transfer students should use the Cost of Attendance Estimator to estimate tuition, fees and other charges and contact the Rutgers Office of Financial Aid for information on available financial aid.
