Rutgers University SEVIS Administration Fee (SAF)
The SEVIS Administration Fee (sometimes indicated as an International Fee or Other Fee on your term bill) is a fee charged by Rutgers University to offset the high ongoing cost of institutional compliance with SEVIS regulations. This fee is entirely separate from the DHS SEVIS Fee. The fee has been in effect since August 1, 2003, when VP Karen Kavanagh explained the necessity of establishing the fee. See link: http://adminaffairs.rutgers.edu/sevisfee.shtml.
This $100 fee will be automatically charged to all F-1/J-1 registered students’ term bills every fall and spring semester. (NOTE: Initially, Rutgers University TA’s/GA’s/Fellow’s will see the fee on their term bills; although exempt from paying the fee, they must identify themselves as a TA, GA or Fellow at the time they submit the RT-100 to Student Financial Services for a term bill credit for the fee. Students who do not specifically request a credit of the fee when submitting their RT-100 to Student Financial Services and who are therefore billed for and pay the SAF will be refunded this fee ONLY in the same semester as the erroneous billing. An SAF payment will not be refunded retroactively for a previous academic year.
F-2 and J-2 dependents pay the one-time-only SAF of $50 for a spouse and $25 per child. The fee must be paid by the primary F-1/J-1 visa holder at time of requesting the first visa document for each dependent.
